Beloved of Good Shepherd Parish,

Grace to you and peace in Jesus Christ our Lord!

There is so much thrilling news rising up out of the Good Shepherd community these days! This Sunday is Pentecost, the 50th and final day of the Great 50 Days of Easter season. We will renew our baptismal vows at all three services which means we will once again say Yes! to God’s love as we know it in Jesus Christ. We will baptize several new Christians at the 10:00 a.m. service. Our baptismal vows are our public pledge to follow Jesus as our Lord and convey his love ethic to the world in the way we live our everyday lives. The way of Jesus is the way of eternal life. Red is the traditional color of Pentecost as it symbolizes the fiery, loving presence and guidance of the Holy Spirit. So, wear red to church this Sunday if you want to. No matter what you wear, come join us!

Another bit of good news is that Good Shepherd is living into her vocation of raising up and sending out leaders for the church. This Sunday is Zac, Lamar, and Emily’s last Sunday with us. They have each been called out into the wider world to serve the cause of the Gospel in new places. While we are sad to see them go, we also celebrate with them as they embark upon exciting new chapters in their lives.

More good news is this: it is my great joy to announce that God has called our next Youth and Young Adults Minister to Good Shepherd. Faith Neece will begin her work among us on Sunday, June 14th. Faith is a warm, loving, passionate follower of Jesus who will help build on the great foundation that Zac has collaborated with you to build for Youth and Young Adults in our parish. You can read a letter from Faith HERE

Finally, you are invited to the parish picnic this Sunday after the 10:00 a.m. service. It’s a catered picnic on the church grounds and all are welcome!  Come join us!

Remember this always - God loves you, and I love you too!

Love is all,

Hendree+
