February 26
Peace be with you! It is such a gift to see so many families with young children on Sunday mornings. You and your children light up our worship with your loving, joyful energy. I hope you realize how richly you bless our community with your presence here at Good Shepherd.
This Sunday’s Old Testament reading from Genesis is about families being a blessing to each other. God blesses Abraham so that his family will be a blessing to other families. God says to Abraham, “in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Similarly, God blesses our families here at Good Shepherd so that we can be a blessing to other families. I love the story about one of our families inviting their neighbors to attend the 10 am service with them this past fall. Their neighbors loved their worship experience and just a few weeks later decided to have their infant daughter baptized here. God blesses our church and school families so that other families in our wider community will be blessed. I believe this is God’s ingenious way of happily growing the kingdom of God here on earth!
We hope our families will stay a bit longer this Sunday, March 1, for our Family Lenten Lunch and Story, 11:30-12:30 pm. Our Godly Play Consultant, the Rev. Cynthia Insko, will invite our children to help tell the story of the life of Jesus as we take the Lenten journey toward the great Mystery of Easter. We’ll offer a Chick-Fil-A lunch for kids for this event. Go HERE to register for our Lenten Lunch and Story. Nursery care will be offered.
We hope to see you this Sunday!
Many Blessings,
Patty
