We are in a stage of our project in which a lot of work is going on behind the scenes to secure the necessary permits for construction. In broad terms, we have two different permits and approvals we must receive before proceeding. One permit is for the roof replacement and exterior improvements to the current building (tuck pointing/mortar repair). A second permit is for the construction of our new parish hall.
Our church sits within a neighborhood situated in a historic overlay which means that we have an added layer of permitting and approval required before construction begins. We apply for approval from the Board of Architectural Review (BOAR) which is the group that looks at historical preservation details, and then we apply for building permits from the city. We are scheduled to have our plan for the parish hall reviewed by the BOAR next week.
We received good news today, July 9th, we have received BOAR approval and a building permit from the city for the roof replacement and the exterior improvements to the existing building. This is great news and a sign of progress in the right direction!
We are now fully focused on getting the same approval and permit for the construction of the new parish hall.
Many thanks for your continued support and prayers!
