A dangerous use of time

One of the most dangerous ways to spend your time is on how you think other people should behave and live their lives. It is not dangerous because you’ll die if you do it; it’s dangerous because time can get away from you and you might die doing it. You can spend the enormous gift of your entire life wishing things were different, wishing people were different. Not only are other people’s lives and decisions none of your business, but when you make them your business you’re not making your own life your business. That means that you’re not asking the most important question which is this: God what do you want me to do with my life?

The two most important tasks of the spiritual journey are time spent in self-reflection and a sincere desire that my will and God’s will be united and then God’s will be done.

In an unguarded, heartfelt way, turn to God within the depth of your own soul and say softly, “God, where am I coming up short, and what would you have me do with my life?”

Let go of your thoughts of how other people should act. This is the pathway to peace.
