October 29

Beloved families of Good Shepherd,

Peace be with you!  This Sunday we are excited to celebrate All Saints’ Sunday, which is one of seven major feast days in the life of the Church.  We will honor the saints throughout the ages with our Children’s Saints’ Procession and then baptize eight children into the mystical body of Christ.  It is going to be a glorious day!

Saints are regular people like you and me who have chosen to surrender their lives completely to God.  With the power of the living God propelling their lives, these ordinary individuals are able to do extraordinary things for the cause of Love.  The sacrament of baptism is the entryway into this surrendered way of life in which we allow God’s love and grace to make us into the saints we were born to be.

We invite all of our children to come to the loggia (the hallway by the playground) at 9:45 am this Sunday to select a special saint icon or ribbon banner to carry during the Children’s Saints’ Procession at the beginning of the 10 am service.  We’ll process to the chancel steps and then Fr. Hendree will offer a blessing for our young saints before they depart for children’s chapel.  After chapel time, all children are invited to sit together near the baptismal font to support their friends who will be baptized into the wonderful communion of saints!

We look forward to seeing you Sunday!  And, please note that daylight-saving time ends this weekend, so we will “fall back” one hour this Sunday morning!

Many Blessings,

Patty
