April 17

Beloved of Good Shepherd Church,

Grace to you and peace in Jesus Christ our Lord!

Easter is outlandish. What I mean is that it’s really wild what we believe about Easter. We believe that Jesus really died. He was very, very dead. Then love came for him. Love rolled that old stone away, and love grabbed him up out of the grave, and he was raised from the dead. The resurrection defeated the power and finality of death for good. That’s not something that’s just true for Jesus. It’s true for you too. Though you will one day die, you will rise to new life in the resurrection, the saving embrace of God. Thus we say, whether you live or you die you are the Lord’s possession. Death doesn’t get you. You belong to God. Isn’t that wild? Once you believe that down in your bones you’re free to live fully present and detached from all outcomes. Because you know the outcome. Love wins. Easter is outlandish.

Come join us on Easter Day to celebrate the outlandish victory of love over death!

Remember this always - God loves you, and I love you too!

Love is all,

Hendree+
